Prioritizing Accessibility in Cleveland’s New Ward 7
Mohammad Faraj, current candidate for Cleveland city council for Detroit-Shoreway, Ohio City, and Tremont, is running on a commitment to accessible city services for Ward 7 residents.
“Neighbors throughout the new Ward 7 value the accessibility of their government,” Mohammad reflects, “recognizing that the taxes they pay should translate into dependable and reliable service.”
Accessible city services is certainly a leading priority for Faraj’s candidacy and is something he intends to remain committed to once elected. Responsive city departments, timely trash clean up, reliable public transportation, proactive engagement—these are how residents experience government in their everyday lives and therefore should be prioritized.
Mohammad further defines what it means to prioritize Accessible City Services according to the following commitments:
“Having knocked doors in every precinct in the ward,” Mohammad proudly shares, “it is very clear that Ward 7 residents are looking for a councilor that strives to remain connected to those he is serving.”
Mohammad intends to designate reliable office hours, host regular town halls designed to reach the Ward’s most disenfranchised, and fight to protect and enhance public comment.
But Mohammad also believes prioritizing public transportation, including expanding and improving existing service, must be considered when advocating for accessible city services.
“Clevelanders have been organizing around improving public transit for a while now and it is imperative that council not only advocate for a rider-centered budget at the city level but also truly recognize that consistent and timely public transportation is key to opportunity,” Mohammad shares.
One last commitment that candidate Mohammad Faraj considers essential is enhancing cybersecurity at city hall.
“Our 21st century world runs on data, which means the city’s administration must adopt a proactive plan to protect residents and critical infrastructure from cyberthreats,” says Faraj. He continues, “With two cybersecurity attacks just within the past year, the city of Cleveland must recognize the importance of securing residents’ data and the city’s infrastructure that support all of our tax-funded services.
At the local level, government must be focused on what tangible actions improve the everyday lives of Cleveland’s residents. This is the pursuit that drives Mohammad Faraj’s candidacy for Cleveland’s new Ward 7 city council.
